Vaccinations
One of the pillars of Anne Spoerry Sailing Doctors’ program for prevention is the vaccination. Although the Kenyan Government has a vaccination program that supplies the vaccines to Lamu District Hospital, poverty and poor infrastructure means that people cannot get access to the crucial vaccinations. Every month, Lamu District Hospital collaborates with Anne Spoerry Sailing Doctors to ensure that we get the vaccines to the remote areas.
Mobile Clinics
Anne Spoerry Sailing Doctors provide a monthly clinic that travels up the Kenyan coast in a dhow. We provide basic medical care and ensure that the people on the remote islands have consistent access to a doctor.
Motorbike Outreaches
Rain, poverty, and poor infrastructure makes it very difficult for villagers in the coastal area north of Lamu, Kenya, to get any access to medical help. Anne Spoerry Sailing Doctors have provided a full-time nurse in the Boni National Reserve and equipped him with a motorbike so he can reach the areas that are cut off when the rainy season makes the roads impassable.
